Chris Phillips (professor)
Chris Phillips is the former Dean of the Faculty of Natural Sciences and head of the Optoelectronics section at Imperial College London.
==Career==
Phillips takes particular interest in the dissemination of knowledge onto his students - in particular his deeply held philosophy that the fundamental meaning of a theoretical model is of no consequence as long as it describes the outcome of the experiment satisfactorily. In 1997 he won the Excellence in Teaching Award, mostly due to his students' high praise at his effective use of quantum dots and how they relate to every single area of quantum physics. He was elected a Fellow of the Institute of Physics in 2006.
